   Let’s Get Fiscal - Presented by: Pavlina Tcherneva, PhD

 

Course Description:

The global economy has emerged from The Great Recession with disappointing growth prospects. The talk of the day is largely about how to avoid a possible ‘secular stagnation’. Economists are taking stock of the extraordinary monetary policy measures that we employed after the 2008 financial crisis, which can be dubbed the “Bernanke doctrine”.  This talk will demystify this doctrine to explain why and how the Fed managed to reverse the free-fall in financial markets but failed to produce the desired growth in profits, incomes, and employment. Indeed, there are increasing calls from many corners of the profession to return to stronger and bolder fiscal policy measures. Paradoxically, the Bernanke doctrine holds the key to designing policies that can do the job. Understanding what ‘helicopter money’, ‘overt monetary financing’ and ‘conventional fiscal policy’ are all about will be crucial for understanding what prospects markets face in the post-election season.

How will the new President impact Estate Tax, and what are the new proposed regulations and policies? A review of who needs Estate Tax Planning and why, and the risks involved without this planning will be discussed. Techniques and planning that can avoid family discord after death, as well as protections against elder abuse and other pit falls after death will be reviewe
